Linda Henry cleared of race charge

British soap actress Linda Henry wept in court after she was cleared of racially aggravated harassment. The EastEnders star was accused of yelling racial abuse at street warden Iyabo Adetokunbo outside a restaurant in Greenwich, south London in September (14)
During the trial, Henry admitted to arguing with Adetokunbo but denied using racial language, saying, “If I heard someone call someone else that word I’d be outraged. I think it’s repulsive. I would have called the police immediately.”
Henry, who was prosecuted under her married last name Virilis, was cleared at Bexley Magistrates Court on Wednesday (11Feb15) as District Judge Nigel Dean ruled prosecutors had failed to prove she had used racist language.
Dean says, “I’ve no doubt Mrs Virilis became annoyed, aggressive and uncooperative. But I cannot be sure these words were spoken.”
