From one battle to the next, Lisa Whelchel, who wrapped filming for Survivor: Philippines in April, is now fighting for her health. The 49-year-old The Facts of Life actress tweeted Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with West Nile virus.
“Dr. just called with blood test results…I have West Nile,” Whelchel wrote. “Ugh. I’m fine, just tired. Takes a year to recover. :(“

Whelchel did not say whether or not she contracted the virus while filming Survivor. According to People, there have been about 4,000 cases of West Nile in the United States in 2012.
Whelchel also shared that she is experiencing one of the symptoms — fatigue — of West Nile, but she expects to make a full recovery. “I’ve been very touched by all the sweet tweets,” she shared on Twitter. “Other than tired, I’m feeling fine & expecting a full recovery. So grateful for you. Thanks!”
