Little River Band star writes to Jimmy Fallon over Tonight Show performance

The original frontman of Australian rock group Little River Band has written an expletive-filled letter to Jimmy Fallon in a bid to stop the new incarnation of the group performing their hits on his U.S. TV show. Glenn Shorrock spent nearly two decades fronting the group before they parted ways in 2006, and the band is continuing to perform with a new line-up which does not contain any of the original members.
Shorrock reveals he has previously clashed with the group over naming rights and performing permission, and wants the band to be blocked from an upcoming appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (12Jan15).
The veteran rocker has revealed he even wrote a letter to the host in a bid to have the guest slot axed.
He tells News.com.au, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore… I wrote a letter to Jimmy Fallon and said ‘If you decide to put that version of LRB on your show please pass a message on to them that they’re grinding our good name in their dust and that they can go f**k themselves’… I didn’t say Fallon should go f**k himself, I don’t have a problem with him at all, I just wanted him to be aware of the situation, a lot of people think they’re the original line-up because they have the name…
“We can’t stop them playing the songs live, anyone can cover songs live, but we can try to stop them playing them on TV. Apparently they’ve got a new album of their own new songs. Why don’t they play one of those songs on TV, rather than one of ours?”
Shorrock goes on to detail his legal battles with the band, claiming they have previously wrecked his plans to tour American by blocking him from mentioning the name of the group.
He adds, “Whenever I try to work in America and use my title as ‘Glenn Shorrock, the voice of Little River Band’ I get injunctions thrown at me by them, and promoters who wanted to hire me don’t want to touch it. I’d love to go to America and show them the real voice of LRB, which is me, but their legal team shut it down.”
