Lloyd Webber and Mackintosh lose power grip over U.K. theatre

The theatre impresarios regularly score high in the annual survey by Stage newspaper – but the 2011 countdown is the first in the publication’s 15-year history that doesn’t feature either of the Cats and Phantom of the Opera collaborators in the top two.

Instead, Ambassador Theatre Group bosses Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire were named in joint first place, leaving Cameron trailing in fifth and Lloyd Webber in sixth.

Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey, the artistic director of the Old Vic, landed at 10.
