The London Symphony Orchestra has paid tribute to trumpeter Rod Franks following his death in a car crash. The LSO performer died on Sunday evening (20Jul14) after the car he was travelling in was involved in a motorway collision in Nottinghamshire, England.
The 58 year old was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Franks, who played for the LSO for more than 20 years, overcame a brain tumour in 2002.
A statement from the orchestra reads, “Hugely respected and immensely popular with members of the orchestra, conductors and audience alike, Rod will be missed for his ever-welcoming friendliness and brilliant playing… Rod had been beset by health issues for over 10 years but would never allow them to compromise his supreme professionalism.”
