Warner Bros. brought this brunette Austrian musical-comedy star to Hollywood in 1930, presumably as a threat to MGM's Greta Garbo or Paramount's Marlene Dietrich. She was top-billed as a German innkeeper's daughter falling in love with American soldier Ben Lyon in A Soldier's Plaything (1930), a comedy drama with songs, and then supported Broadway headliner Irene Delroy in Oh! Sailor Behave!. Loder played Louisa, a Venetian siren leading tempting American sailors Simon and Peter (the comedy team of Olden & Johnson). The following year, she played Delroy's maid in the espionage musical Men of the Sky and supported Winnie Lightner and Joe E. Brown in Sit Tight (1931), a comedy set in the wide world of sports. That, alas, was the end of Lotti Loder's Hollywood career and she never became much of a threat to any of the imported divas.
