Biography

Joining a respected line of Welsh actors that includes Richard Burton and Ioan Gruffudd, Luke Evans hit the silver screen with numerous projects that were released during the early 2010s, paving the way for his ascending stardom. After studying at the London Studio Centre, the ruggedly handsome Evans became increasingly renowned for his West End stage roles and eventually made the leap to feature films. Appearing in blockbusters and indies alike, he followed supporting parts in the fantastical remake "Clash of the Titans" (2010) and the scrappy drama "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" (2010) with predominantly high-prolife fare, including key roles in the sword-centric adventure movies "The Three Musketeers" (2011) and "Immortals" (2011). Continuing his swift rise in the Hollywood ranks, Evans filmed crucial performances for the big-budget sequels "Fast & Furious 6" (2013) and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" (2013), and subsequently made cinema news when it was announced that he would be assuming the mantle of the brooding comic book hero The Crow in a major reboot of the film series.

Bonus Trivia

.

"I was lucky enough to get a role in 'Clash of the Titans' and 'Robin Hood' and 'Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.' I got them all in four days of each other and I couldn’t believe what was happening. That was last March, and now I’m on my ninth movie. The roles have gotten bigger and now I’m doing press on movies, which is even stranger." - from Collider, Oct. 7, 2010

.

"For me, when [Tarsem] told me that he wanted me to play Zeus, I was like, ‘That’s always been played by an old man, like Lawrence Olivier or Liam Neeson.’ He convinced me, he said, ‘No, you can do this. This is a new take.’ And you just go, ‘Okay, I surrender, I’ll follow you and you’ll lead me.’ That’s what we had to do in this film." - from Screen Rant, November 2011

.

Three of Evans' most notable roles have been legendary figures with extensive histories: Greek gods Apollo and Zeus, and Aramis of The Three Musketeers.
