Lyricist Fred Stobaugh dies at 99

Record-breaking songwriter Fred Stobaugh has died at the age of 99.
The lyricist passed away on 23 November (16) at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Illinois.
Stobaugh’s song Oh Sweet Lorraine, which he wrote as a tribute to his late wife, hit the Billboard Hot 100 top 50, making him the oldest person to appear on the list, at the age of 96.
A documentary about the making of the song and Stobaugh’s story behind it was also a hit, racking up over seven million views on Youtube.
Stobaugh released a second song, Took Her Home, in 2014. He was laid to rest on Tuesday (29Nov16).
