Biography

Mabel Albertson worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Albertson began her acting career appearing in various films, such as "So This Is Love" (1953) with Kathryn Grayson, the drama "She's Back on Broadway" (1953) with Virginia Mayo and the dramatic adaptation "About Mrs. Leslie" (1954) with Shirley Booth. She also appeared in the Ginger Rogers crime flick "Black Widow" (1954), the Marjorie Main comedy "Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki" (1955) and "The Cobweb" (1955). Her passion for acting continued to her roles in projects like the crime feature "Ransom" (1956) with Glenn Ford, the Paul Newman dramatic adaptation "The Long, Hot Summer" (1958) and "The Female Animal" (1958). She also appeared in "Home Before Dark" (1958). Nearing the end of her career, she continued to act in the comedic adaptation "Period of Adjustment" (1962) with Anthony Franciosa, the Sean Connery dramatic adaptation "A Fine Madness" (1966) and "Barefoot in the Park" (1967) with Robert Redford. She also appeared in "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" (1970) and the Barbra Streisand comedy "What's Up Doc?" (1972). Albertson last appeared in "Pete 'n Tillie" (1973-74). Mabel Albertson passed away in September 1982 at the age of 81.
