Marcia Gay Harden co-starring with teenage daughter in Code Black

Actress Marcia Gay Harden’s hit medical drama Code Black has become a family affair after she co-starred with her daughter.
The Mystic River star, who has portrayed Dr. Leanne Rorish on the series since 2015, reveals the new season three features a plane crash episode with her 14-year-old kid Julitta Dee Scheel, and she was delighted to be able to impart some of her industry knowledge to her little girl – even though she didn’t always listen to mum.
“I tried not to be a helicopter mum with her…,” Marcia explained on daytime show The Talk.
“She got the audition all by herself. Sometimes she would listen to me and sometimes she would say, ‘Go away mum’, but now I’m watching her do this scene and she (her character) has been hurt.
“She would do the scene…, and they would say, ‘Cut!’, and she would burst into tears. I said, ‘Sweetie, you have to do it on camera’. So she’s practising, and the first take, she’s sobbing. They’re pulling her out of an airplane and she’s sobbing.
“I walked over and said, ‘That was awesome sweetie, but it’s a really wide shot… save it for the close-up,’ she’s like, ‘Got it, mum!'”
The episode in question, Cabin Pressure, will air next month (May18), and marks Julitta’s second acting gig to date.
Julitta is one of the Oscar winner’s three kids from her marriage to prop master Thaddaeus Scheel. The former couple separated in 2012 after 16 years as husband and wife.
