Biography

Mario Siletti was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Siletti began his acting career appearing in various films, such as the Gene Kelly drama "Black Hand" (1950), the comedy adaptation "Strictly Dishonorable" (1951) with Ezio Pinza and the crime feature "The Enforcer" (1951) with Humphrey Bogart. He also appeared in the Mario Lanza biopic "The Great Caruso" (1951), "The House on Telegraph Hill" (1951) and "The Man Who Cheated Himself" (1951). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the fifties, appearing in "When in Rome" (1952) with Van Johnson, the dramatic sports film "Big Leaguer" (1953) with Edward G Robinson and the John Payne crime flick "Kansas City Confidential" (1953). He also appeared in the action film "Wings of the Hawk" (1953) with Van Heflin, the Clifton Webb dramatic adaptation "Three Coins in the Fountain" (1954) and "Bring Your Smile Along" (1955) with Frankie Laine. Nearing the end of his career, he tackled roles in "East of Eden" (1955), "The Naked Street" (1955) with Farley Granger and the Mario Lanza musical "Serenade" (1956). He also appeared in the dramatic adaptation "The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit" (1956) with Jack Martin Smith, the Jeff Chandler adaptation "Man in the Shadow" (1957) and the crime picture "Pay or Die" (1960) with Ernest Borgnine. Siletti more recently acted on "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." (NBC, 1964-68). Siletti passed away in April 1964 at the age of 61.
