Mothersbaugh's signature thick glasses aren't merely for image purposes - he has been severely near-sighted his whole life and was nearly declared legally blind as a child.
Mothersbaugh is also an established gallery artist and in 2014 staged a retrospective exhibition of sounds and artwork at Denver's Museum of Contemporary Art.
