Max Cavalera: ‘I don’t want original Sepultura line-up to reunite’

Brazilian rocker Max Cavalera has shot down all hope of a full Sepultura reunion just weeks after his brother Igor suggested he’d like to get the classic line-up back together. Igor quit the group to spend more time with his family a decade ago, almost 10 years after Max departed when his wife was fired as the band’s manager in 1996, but in a recent interview, he revealed he’d consider a get together.
He said, “There’s nothing solid. The only solid thing right now, it’s what I do with Max (Cavalera Conspiracy). The whole Sepultura thing, it’s something that we don’t know if it’s gonna happen or not. To be honest, I really hope one day we can do this in a very cool way.”
Guitarist Andreas Kisser, who recently admitted the reunion reports are “a pain in the a**”, has since dismissed all talk of a get together and now it appears Max is not keen on the idea either.
He tells Australian radio presenter Andrew Haug, “I actually lost all kinds of hope for it (reunion). Honestly, today, I don’t see it happening, just because of how our lives are and how those guys’ (the other members of Sepultura) lives are… We live in completely different worlds from those guys… It won’t be the same. The magic is gone.
“I don’t think a reunion would be the best thing for Sepultura… I kind of prefer (for) it to stay like this and leave the memory how it was.
“It was a great band… I’m proud of the records… and you can go to YouTube and check out all the old videos and how great it was, and kind of leave it like that.”
