Biography

Mel Carter worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Carter started his Hollywood career by acting in comedies like "Chesty Anderson - U.S. Navy" (1975) and "Friday Foster" (1975) with Pam Grier. He additionally landed roles in the TV movies "U.M.C." (1968-69) and "Love Is Not Enough" (1977-78). His film career continued throughout the seventies and the eighties in productions like "The Cat From Outer Space" (1978) with Ken Berry and the Cliff Gorman action flick "Angel" (1984). He also worked in television around this time, including a part on "Magnum, P.I." (1980-88). Carter also created music for "Eye on the Sparrow" (1987-88). Carter had a number of different projects under his belt in the eighties through the early 2000s, including "Flying Blind" (NBC, 1989-1990), "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" (1993) and "Doo Wop 51" (PBS, 2000-01). Most recently, Carter provided music for "Believe In Me" (2007).
