Michael Ball bags first solo U.K. number album in 27 years

Michael Ball is back on top of Britain’s albums chart, almost three decades after his last solo number one.
The British theatre legend’s new record Coming Home To You has topped Friday’s U.K. Official Charts Company rundown, pushing Jack Savoretti’s Singing to Strangers to two.
Coming Home To You is the 56-year-old’s most successful solo chart release since his self-titled 1992 debut, and his fourth number one in total, alongside his two collaborations with opera star Alfie Boe.
Michael expressed his delight to OfficialCharts.com, saying: “It’s the most exciting news! Thank you so much for supporting the album, to the fans who’ve connected with it and bought it. The hard work has been worth it and this is just the icing on the cake. Amazing!”
At three is the soundtrack to movie musical The Greatest Showman, with Tom Walker’s What a Time to Be Alive in fourth place, and George Ezra’s Staying at Tamara’s completing the top five.
Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved tops the singles chart for a fifth consecutive week, keeping Calvin Harris and Rag’N’Bone Man’s collaboration, Giant, at two. Third is Tom Walker’s Just You and I, and the Jonas Brothers’ Sucker rises to four, while Ariana Grande’s Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored climbs back into the top five.
