Biography

Having emerged from obscurity in a short time, German actor Michael Fassbender made Hollywood take notice after he appeared in the World War II epic miniseries "Band of Brothers" (HBO, 2001). After a few years of guest-starring in England, Fassbender found his big screen career starting to flourish with a prominent supporting role in the comic book-inspired "300" (2006). From there, he moved from well-received artistic films, like his romantic turn opposite Romola Garai in "Angel" (2007), to the powerful true story of Irish Republican hunger striker, Bobby Sands, in "Hunger" (2008), for which he earned several Best Actor awards and cemented his status as a rising star to watch. While returning across the pond for the British-made thriller "Eden Lake" (2008) and the coming-of-age drama "Fish Tank" (2009), he landed a breakthrough role as Lt. Archie Hicox in Quentin Tarantino's box office monster "Inglourious Basterds" (2009), a high-profile and much-decorated film that, along with his edgy, brave portrait of a sex addict in "Shame" (2011), helped Fassbender officially become an international star.

Bonus Trivia

.

TMZ.com reported that Michael Fassbender's ex, Sunawin Andrews, filed a petition for a restraining order against him in early March 2010 in L.A. County Superior Court. In the documents, Andrews claimed Fassbender hit the bottle hard during a film festival in July of 2009 and after he woke up in a puddle of his own urine, he became violent. She alleged that the actor "threw me over a chair, breaking my nose." Andrews also said Michael allegedly dragged her alongside their car one night after they had an argument about one of her ex-boyfriends, causing her to twist her left ankle, blow out her left knee cap and burst an ovarian cyst. Andrews said she feared for her life and wanted to keep Fassbender 100 yards away from herself and her two children. She wanted over $20,000 to help pay her medical bills from the injuries he allegedly caused.
