Michael Moore Covers Bob Dylan on ‘Occupy’ Album — LISTEN

ALTMichael Moore isn’t exactly known for his singing voice, so how did he wind up covering a music legend like Bob Dylan? Naturally, it started with a joke.

On Occupy This Album, a four-disk compilation described as “99 tracks — 99 artists for the 99 percent,” the filmmaker covers Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin’.'” On Friday, he explained his unlikely turn as a recording artist. “They had asked me 2 direct a music video of the album,” Moore tweeted. “I said, ‘You don’t want me 2 sing a song?’ They called my bluff & said ‘Yes!Sing!’ Ha!”

Moore surprisingly turned out a decent performance of the 1964 protest anthem. (He had some practice singing the song when he broke into a Dylan impression in his documentary, The Big One.) Check out the track below:

Occupy This Album — which also includes music from Patti Smith, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Ani DiFranco, and Yoko Ono — will be released on May 15.
