Despite her own reluctance to watch, Mrs. Obama encourages everyone to tune in, “But I think it’s important for everyone to watch these conventions, because this is the time you get to know the party, you understand the platform, you understand the candidates,” she said.”You know, this is technically where the campaign begins,” she continued. “So I think it’s very important for everyone to watch as much of both conventions as possible to make their decisions.”
Mrs. Obama also talked to Letterman about hosting the first-ever Kids’ State Dinner, which featured healthy recipes — including Letterman’s favorite, kale chips — submitted by kids from every state.
