Miguel and Win Butler team up onstage

R&B star Miguel, rocker Win Butler, and soul singer John Oates formed an unlikely trio at this weekend’s (05-06Mar16) Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Florida.
The musicians teamed up for the inaugural event’s PoWow superjam session, which also featured jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who recently joined Butler and his Arcade Fire bandmates in a special tribute parade through the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana following David Bowie’s death in January (16).
The odd group delighted fans on Saturday night (05Mar16) with a series of covers, including Bowie’s Fame and Rebel Rebel, while they also belted out renditions of the Rolling Stones’ Sympathy For the Devil, Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir, and even rapper Drake’s Hotline Bling.
The all-star line-up became even more of a marvel after Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford and dance DJ Skrillex joined in the fun to help perform The Clash’s Rock the Casbah and Earth, Wind & Fire’s Let’s Groove.
The first ever Okeechobee bash, which took place over three days (04-06Mar16), also featured sets from Kendrick Lamar, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, The Avett Brothers, Deer Tick, Bassnectar, and Future, among many others.
