Biography

After attending mime school in 1975 and taking up the practice, actor Miguel Sandoval began appearing in bit parts in movies. He appeared in such films as "Repo Man" and "Sid and Nancy" before director Spike Lee cast him as an NYPD officer in his acclaimed drama "Do the Right Thing." Sandoval would appear in another Lee film, reprising the role of Officer Ponte in 1991's "Jungle Fever" opposite Samuel L. Jackson. After guest starring on television shows and appearing in small film roles throughout the early 1990s, Sandoval landed a small role in director Steven Spielberg's action adventure "Jurassic Park" in 1993. He continued to book steady work through the decade, including brief roles in the films "Clear and Present Danger" and "Get Shorty." Often appearing as a figure of authority, Sandoval continued with this pattern in 2005 when he was cast as D.A. Manuel Devalos on the Patricia Arquette psychic drama "Medium." Sandoval was nominated for two consecutive ALMA Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role, and also directed several episodes during his tenure on the series. In 2008, Sandoval picked up another ALMA Award nomination, this time for Outstanding Director of a Television Series.
