Mira Sorvino and Tom Skerritt tackle East of the Mountains adaptation

Actors Mira Sorvino and Tom Skerritt are heading East Of The Mountains in a film adaptation of the 1999 novel.
Alien star Skerritt, 85, will portray a widower diagnosed with terminal cancer, who decides to leave behind his daughter, played by Sorvino, and embark on a soul-fulfilling journey into the Columbia Basin Province in Washington to live out his final days.
Original author David Guterson co-wrote the screenplay, from which writer/filmmaker S.J. Chiro will direct.
Production is set to begin in Washington later this month (Jun19), reports Deadline.com.
It’s not the first Guterson book to be turned into a movie – his 1994 release, Snow Falling on Cedars, was made into a film in 1999, starring Ethan Hawke, James Cromwell, and Richard Jenkins.
