Hailed as one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" in 2004, actress Mischa Barton achieved unprecedented stardom at a young age. Her irresistible, girl-next-door charm on television and her precocious demeanor on the big screen made Barton a hot commodity in both big budget features and small independents. After getting her start on and off-Broadway, Barton cut her teeth on the famed daytime soap "All My Children" (ABC, 1969- ), then made her mark in independent film with "Lawn Dogs" (1997). But it was her three seasons on the popular teen primetime soap "The O.C." (Fox, 2003-07) that propelled her into the limelight, making her one of the most sought-after actresses in young Hollywood and a favorite tabloid topic.

Bonus Trivia

"She's such an elegant young lady. Her poise supersedes her years." - McG on Barton to Entertainment Weekly Dec. 12, 2003

Mischa Barton was named one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" for 2004

"We've regressed. When we first started doing the show, it addressed teenage sexuality and drugs. Not to blame anybody, but Janet Jackson on the Superbowl had a direct impact on us. Personally, I'd push the limit as far as anyone wants to. Honestly, I don't care if we loose five million viewers if I think the show is better." - Barton quoted in Movieline's Hollywood Life, November 2004

Barton was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and driving without a valid license on Dec. 27, 2007. The former The O.C. star was pulled over by police officers in West Hollywood at 2:46am, after she was seen "straddling the lanes and failing to signal for a turn." Barton accepted a plea deal to spare her jail. She received three years probation and a $1,700 fine.

On Jan. 11, 2008, Barton called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" (KIIS FM) and took full responsibility for her actions.

In December 2008, Barton premiered her line of headbands released on the Stacy Lapidus line. She also has a handbag line for London-based Ri2k, which is sold in the United Kingdom and Australia only.

Barton was removed from her home on the afternoon of July 15, 2009, due to what the Los Angeles Police Department called "medical issues." According to reports, she was hospitalized at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an involuntary psychiatric hold. On July 27, it was announced that Barton was released from the hospital.
