The 24 year old appeared in 2005 drama Pride & Prejudice, alongside Keira Knightley, as a teenager but has garnered critical acclaim for her turn in last year’s (09) An Education.
The role has gained Mulligan a nomination for the Best Actress prize at the upcoming Oscars and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, and she is favourite to walk away with the BAFTA’s Rising Star trophy.
And Mulligan is putting pen to paper to document her starry Hollywood experiences.
She says, “No one expected any of this to happen for An Education, so it’s been a completely crazy ride. It’s a sort of once-in-a-lifetime thing, so I’m writing stuff down and trying to remember it.
“As surreal as it is and as much of an honour as it is to be with people you admire so much, well, I’m just going to enjoy it. After that I can’t wait to get back to work.”
