“There are… people… who are either going through (depression) or know someone that (is),” she told U.S. chat show The Talk. “My experience was so deep and so dark and so horrific, I knew that the only way that I could start to get out of it was to help other people… I wrote the book and I had no earthly idea that it was going to reach so many people.”
“I tell a quick story in there about going to the… car wash and this little old man… comes towards me and he has tears in his eyes and he said, ‘Can I talk to you about something…? I have severe depression. I don’t know how to talk to anyone about it, but I’m going to get your book because I know in there you’ll be telling what I can do’,” she continued. “That was just one of those moments where your life changes and from now on I carry the book in the trunk of my car and give it out to people.”
