Biography

Television executive, former lawyer and executive at Metromedia and the William Morris Agency, who held several important business administration posts at CBS Sports before becoming president of that division in 1981. During his tenure Pilson has negotiated broadcast agreements with the NFL, the Major Baseball League, the NCAA, the PGA Tours, the NBA and the U.S. Tennis Open Championships. After several years as executive vice president of the CBS/Broadcast Group, in which Pilson oversaw such divisions as Operations and Engineering, Sports, Radio and Television Stations, Pilson returned as head of CBS Sports from 1986 until his retirement in 1994. He went on to found Pilson Communications, a consulting firm that oversees the sale of broadcast rights for sporting events to cable and network outlets.
