Watch Mumford & Sons’ Hilarious New Video Starring Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Ed Helms, and Will Forte

On Sunday, Mumford & Sons released their new video for “Hopeless Wanderer.” While at first glance it looks pretty much like all of their other music videos, this one actually has a hilarious twist.

The first full minute of the “Hopeless Wanderer” video is typical Mumford & Sons fare: a rustic folk setting, vintage suspenders and vests, and their signature soaring harmonies. The bright blinding light, dust in the wind, and calculated camera angles obscure their faces. When the dust clears and the camera finally pans up to give a full view of the band, however, we soon realize that the quartet of scruffy men are not the members of Mumford & Sons.

So who is it? Why none other than Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Ed Helms, and Will Forte.

What ensues is a hilarious parody video starring the four comedians. Sporting the proper Mumford attire and facial hair, the famous funnymen spoof the British bandmates in all of their emotional foot-stomping and lyric-belting glory. Sudeikis has Marcus Mumford down to a T, dancing in a field with his tiny mustache and kick drum on his back. Other highlights include their Vaudeville-esque folk dance sequence and the part when Bateman wipes and licks Forte’s tears. By the end, the over-the-top emotional belting builds into an full on breakdown, complete with instrument destruction and impassioned hip-gyrating.

The whole spectacle is reminiscent of boniverotica, but even funnier. Multiple views are necessary to pick up on all of the small but hysterical touches that each actor brings to the video (e.g. Sudeikis’ crazy eyes and Helms’ gradual evolution from playing the piano to punching and hitting it). In short, “Hopeless Wanderer” is the greatest thing we’ve seen all day. Please sirs, we want some more.
