New Order concert documentary unveiled

Rockers New Order are giving fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at their lives in a new concert documentary.
New Order: Decades features frontman Bernard Sumner and his bandmates as they prepare to stage their acclaimed So It Goes collaboration with visual artist Liam Gillick, backed by a 12-piece synthesiser orchestra at England’s Manchester International Festival last year (17).
Directed by Mike Christie, the film includes interviews with the group and its associates, as well as footage from a number of other live shows, as the musicians revisit their back catalogue.
The documentary will premiere on Britain’s Sky Arts channel on 22 September (18), and will offer viewers “a rare chance to enter the band’s private world, understand the visual philosophy of their aesthetic and design, and witness their collaborative, creative processes first hand”.
The news emerges almost exactly 40 years after their previous band Joy Division made its TV debut back in 1978.
New Order was formed by Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris, and former bassist Peter Hook in 1980, following the tragic suicide of singer Ian Curtis.
