Biography

Nino Castelnuovo worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Castelnuovo's earliest roles were in film, including the drama "The Hunchback of Rome" (1960) with Gerard BLlain, the Ava Gardner drama "The Angel Wore Red" (1960) and the crime feature "Rocco and His Brothers" (1961) with Alain Delon. He also appeared in the Alberto Sordi comedy "Everybody Go Home!" (1962), "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (1964) and "Les Creatures" (1965) with Michel Piccoli. He kept working in film throughout the sixties, starring in "The Reward" (1965), the Rossana Schiaffino drama "The Cavern" (1965) and "A Young World" (1966). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the western adventure "The Five Man Army" (1970) with Peter Graves, "Un Amour de pluie" (1974) and "Nude Per l'Assassino" (1975). He also appeared in "Amore Mio Spogliati... Che Poi Ti Spiego!" (1977) and "Le Affinita Elettive" (1978) with Francesca Archibugi. Most recently, Castelnuovo acted in the Ralph Fiennes dramatic adaptation "The English Patient" (1996).
