Onyx forced to cancel Prague gig due to Irish snowstorm

Rap group Onyx have been forced to cancel a concert in Prague in the Czech Republic after getting stranded by a snowstorm in Ireland.
The duo, comprised of Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz, flew from Chicago, Illinois to Dublin on Tuesday (27Feb18) but could not land at the city’s airport due to heavy snow.
They were diverted to Shannon, more than 130 miles (210 kilometres) away and travelled back to the Irish capital in the hope of catching a connecting flight to Prague, but were still stranded on Friday (02Mar18), the day of their gig at Prague’s Rock Cafe venue.
A statement from Rock Cafe bosses on their website reads, “We are really sorry to inform you, that Onyx are not able to get from Dublin Airport due to snowstorm today and we have to cancel the show tonight. We all did our best to get them to Prague, but it is impossible today.”
All most all of Friday’s flights out of Dublin airport have been cancelled, but Rock Cafe bosses said they expected the duo would be able to fly out on Saturday to make a second date at their venue.
Fredro, who has also acted in TV shows including The Wire and Moesha, was interviewed on Irish television while stranded at the airport on Thursday.
Speaking to the RTE network he angrily criticised airport and airline bosses, saying, “We got on at Chicago (Illinois), Chicago should have told us that we was flying into the eye of the storm, because they knew that Prague was our final destination.
“We shouldn’t have even came to Dublin, you know what I’m saying? So we got to Dublin, we had to fly over Dublin, we circled around the airport then we flew to Shannon… standing in a row like three hours. Three hours, no water, nothing.”
The U.K. and Ireland have been hit by freezing weather conditions, dubbed ‘The Beast from the East’, that have blown in from Russia and caused snowstorms and travel disruption.
