For two years in the mid-1970s, actor Parker Stevenson was atop the world as Frank Hardy, one-half of the venerable teen investigating team The Hardy Boys on "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" (ABC, 1977-79). Though 25 years old at the time, his youthful looks helped to land his picture on the walls of countless adolescent girls' bedrooms across the country. However, like many teen idols, he found it difficult to find substantive work in the years after the show's cancellation. Stevenson kept busy with recurring roles on "Falcon Crest" (CBS, 1981-1990) and "Melrose Place" (Fox, 1992-99), but drew more attention for his marriage to actress Kirstie Alley, which ended in an unpleasant squabble for money in 1997. The proceedings left a mark on Stevenson's spotless TV image, which he continued to cultivate well into the first half of the 21st century.
