Biography

Patrick Barr was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Barr began his acting career with roles in such films as the romance "The Blue Lagoon" (1949) with Jean Simmons, the Alec Guinness comedy "The Lavender Hill Mob" (1952) and "The Gay Adventure" (1953) with Burgess Meredith. He also appeared in "Crest of the Wave" (1954) and the Dana Andrews adventure "Duel in the Jungle" (1954). His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the dramatic adaptation "The Dam Busters" (1955) with Richard Todd, the drama "The Intruder" (1955) with Michael Ripper and the Phyllis Calvert comedy adaptation "It's Never Too Late" (1956). He also appeared in the Jean Seberg dramatic adaptation "Saint Joan" (1957), "Billy Liar" (1963) and the adaptation "Guns in the Heather" (1969) with Glen Corbett. Nearing the end of his career, he continued to act in the Michael Caine spy picture "The Black Windmill" (1974), "Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride" (1978) with Christopher Lee and the drama "Home Before Midnight" (1978) with James Aubrey. He also appeared in the action film "The First Great Train Robbery" (1979) with Sean Connery and "The Godsend" (1980). Barr more recently acted in the Roger Moore action picture "Octopussy" (1983). Barr passed away in August 1985 at the age of 77.
