Biography

As a well-versed British entertainer, Patrick Barr had a diverse career in the entertainment industry. Barr started his acting career landing roles in such films as "The Lavender Hill Mob" (1952) with Alec Guinness, the Burgess Meredith drama "The Gay Adventure" (1953) and "Crest of the Wave" (1954). He also appeared in the Dana Andrews adventure "Duel in the Jungle" (1954) and "The Dam Busters" (1955). His film career continued throughout the fifties and the seventies in productions like the drama "The Intruder" (1955) with Michael Ripper, the comedy adaptation "It's Never Too Late" (1956) with Phyllis Calvert and "Saint Joan" (1957). He also appeared in the dramatic adaptation "Billy Liar" (1963) with Tom Courtenay, the Glen Corbett adaptation "Guns in the Heather" (1969) and "The Black Windmill" (1974) with Michael Caine. Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Christopher Lee horror film "Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride" (1978), the drama "Home Before Midnight" (1978) with James Aubrey and the action picture "The First Great Train Robbery" (1979) with Sean Connery. He also appeared in the horror feature "The Godsend" (1980) with Malcolm Stoddard and the Roger Moore action flick "Octopussy" (1983). Barr also acted in "The Blue Lagoon." Patrick Barr passed away in August 1985 at the age of 77.
