Biography

As a well-versed Irish entertainer, Patrick O'Moore had a diverse career in the entertainment industry. O'Moore's earliest roles were in film, including the Jeanette MacDonald adaptation "Smilin' Through" (1941), "Desperate Journey" (1942) and the Humphrey Bogart drama "Sahara" (1943). He also appeared in "Between Two Worlds" (1944), the adaptation "Tonight and Every Night" (1945) with Rita Hayworth and the dramatic comedy "Molly and Me" (1945) with Gracie Fields. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties and the fifties, appearing in "The Fighting O'Flynn" (1949) with Douglas Fairbanks Jr., the remake "Kind Lady" (1951) with Ethel Barrymore and the Claudette Colbert action movie "Thunder on the Hill" (1951). He also appeared in the Robert Stack adventure "Bwana Devil" (1952). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "Promises, Promises" (1964), "What a Way to Go!" (1964) with Shirley MacLaine and "My Fair Lady" (1964). He also appeared in the comedy adaptation "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" (1967) with Robert Morse and "The Resurrection of Zachary Wheeler" (1971) with Leslie Nielsen. O'Moore last acted in "The Sword and the Sorcerer" (1982). Patrick O'Moore passed away in December 1983 at the age of 74.
