Biography

Peter Casey is a producer and screenwriter best known for his work on the extremely successful NBC sitcom "Frasier". Casey was born and grew up in San Francisco where he attended San Francisco State University. He graduated in 1975 with a degree in Broadcast Communication Arts and soon after met David Lee, who would become his writing partner. The duo sold a script to the uptown comedy "The Jeffersons" in 1978, and soon Casey was hired as a staff writer and also served as a story editor and producer. In 1985 he joined the sitcom "Cheers" as a writer and supervising producer. The show set in a Boston bar brought him great success, winning him an Emmy in 1989 and allowing him to start his own company with his partners, Grub Street Productions. In 1990 Casey produced the comedy series "Wings", which starred Tim Daly and Steven Weber as brothers who run an airport. The show lasted seven seasons and was a critical and ratings success. In 1993 as "Cheers" came to a close, Casey and his partners created a spinoff, "Frasier", starring the character of effete psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammar. The show went on to become a phenomenal success, running for 243 episodes from 1993 to 2004 and also won numerous awards, including multiple Emmy awards for Outstanding Comedy Series.
