Biography

Peter Illing was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Illing's career in acting began with his roles in various films like the dramatic adaptation "Outcast of the Islands" (1951) with Ralph Richardson, "Never Let Me Go" (1953) with Clark Gable and "The House Across the Lake" (1954). He also appeared in "Flame and the Flesh" (1954), the Odile Versois drama "The Young Lovers" (1954) and the adventure "West of Zanzibar" (1955) with Anthony Steel. He kept working in film throughout the fifties, starring in the Phyllis Calvert comedic adaptation "It's Never Too Late" (1956), "Bhowani Junction" (1956) and "The Pursuit of the Graf Spee" (1956). He also appeared in "As Long As They're Happy" (1957) with Jack Buchanan. Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "I Accuse" (1958), the Gary Cooper dramatic adaptation "The Wreck of the Mary Deare" (1959) and "The Angry Hills" (1959). He also appeared in the drama "Jet Storm" (1959) with Richard Attenborough and the Trevor Howard crime drama "Moment of Danger" (1960). Illing was most recently credited in "Mask of Dust" (2007). Illing passed away in October 1966 at the age of 67.
