Phil Spector‘s former personal assistant has accused the legendary producer of sexual harassment and is suing him for around $5.25 million.
Spector, who is currently waiting for his murder trial to start, originally filed a lawsuit against Michelle Blaine last September, accusing her of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his bank accounts.
On Friday, Blaine counter-sued, claiming the 66-year-old gave her permission to take the money and gave her a $700,000 house. She also alleges Spector once asked her to find him a prostitute, invited her to join him and a prostitute in a hotel room, and sometimes appeared naked in front of her.
After Spector was charged with murdering actress Lana Clarkson, 40, at his home in 2003, Blaine says he asked her to marry him on numerous occasions–spouses cannot be forced to testify against each other under California law.
She also claims Spector sent her to music industry parties in New York City and Los Angeles to hand out fliers proclaiming his innocence in Clarkson‘s killing.
Blaine is seeking $5.25 million in damages, and additional millions of dollars in punitive damages.
Her lawyer Tim Reuben says, “We believe there is very, very powerful evidence that Michelle Blaine acted not only appropriately but that she was very, very badly treated by Mr. Spector.”
Spector‘s lawyer Bruce Cutler responds, “She stole this money and her final lie is now that it’s hush money. It’s all a lie.”
Last week, Spector‘s murder trial was pushed back until September. He is currently free on $1 million bail.
Clarkson Pal Blasts Spector’s 9/11 Trial Date
Late actress Lana Clarkson‘s friend and former publicist Edward Lozzi has blasted Los Angeles law officials for scheduling the start of the Phil Spector murder trial to coincide with the fifth anniversary of 9/11.
Lozzi is upset the case has taken so long to come to trial–and now he thinks the Sept. 11 start date is in bad taste.
He fumes, “What moron in the Los Angeles County Court Clerks Office would schedule this high-profile murder trial on one of America’s most historical anniversaries? Is this some kind of a joke?
“It is an insult to the thousands of Americans who died that day, and the families they have left behind, to share the news with Phil Spector, the accused murderer of Lana Clarkson.
“Our county and state seeks to imprison Spector for the rest of his life. In this rare case we would be happy for Mr. Spector‘s New York lawyers to seek and receive yet one more of their many trial delays in order to move it from that hallowed date for the inevitable trial and conviction that will get this dangerous man.”
Spector‘s trial was to begin next month, but his attorney, Bruce Cutler, and prosecutors are involved in other trials during that period.
The record producer is accused of shooting Clarkson at his Alhambra, California home in 2003.
