Philip Akin worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Akin's career in acting began with his roles in various films like "Gas" (1981), the Timothy Hutton drama "Iceman" (1984) and the Bruce Fairbairn action movie "Nightstick" (1987). He also appeared in the action flick "Nowhere to Hide" (1987) with Amy Madigan, the horror movie "Blue Monkey" (1987) with Steve Railsback and "Switching Channels" (1988) with Kathleen Turner. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the nineties, appearing in the comedy adventure "The Stupids" (1996) with Tom Arnold, "Fly Away Home" (1996) with Jeff Daniels and "Woo" (1998) starring Jada Pinkett Smith. He also appeared in the Stephen Baldwin action picture "One Tough Cop" (1998). In his more recent career, he tackled roles in the Ben Affleck blockbuster action film "The Sum of All Fears" (2002), the Mandy Moore dramatic adaptation "How to Deal" (2003) and the romantic comedy "The Perfect Man" (2005) with Hilary Duff. He also appeared in "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" (2005). Akin also acted in "Cube 2: Hypercube."
