Prince Says Internet Is Over: Celeb Speak

ALTIn an interview with Daily Mirror, Prince made a bold claim against the internet, saying it was

“…completely over. The internet’s like MTV. At one time it was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.”

What he means: Prince, in all his infinite wisdom, is right in taking MTV’s unfortunate fate and suggesting the likelihood of it happening to other trends in their peaks. However, the analogy is more suited for small-scale fads, like harem pants or Ke$ha.

But the internet is a revolutionary advancement which has become so deeply embedded in our society that it’s past the point of fading away due to pointlessness. It allows us to do too many things that we’ll never stop doing, like track the packages online that we sent to our grandmothers and find out when we can catch another 50 Cent concert. It also allows us to do even better things, like donate money to Haiti and catch the episode of True Blood that we missed.

So yes, MTV and Ringpops have met the same fate. It’s a cruel world we live in. But because we have to give Prince the benefit of the doubt in everything he does and says, we’re going to write this off as him being a champion against pirated music.
