Has a more British thing ever happened? Apparently, Princess Beatrice of York owes Ed Sheeran some major apologies — and quite possibly a few stitches. The Princess accidentally cut open Ed Sheeran’s face with a sword while faux-knighting James Blunt at a party at the Royal Windsor Lounge.
According The Sun, it all started because Blunt — probably needing attention since everyone basically forgot about him after “You’re Beautiful” was so overplayed it was physically painful to listen to — decided he should be called “Sir James.” The Princess, in good humor as any Brit should have, lifted her sword to tap Blunt on the shoulder and knight him, but accidentally swung it in Sheeran’s direction, nicking him in the face.
It’s unclear why there was a sword at a party and who thought that was a good idea.
Sheeran was rushed to the hospital to treat a huge cut on his cheek. He appears to be healing okay, minus maybe a bruised ego. But really, he’s probably just happy he’s not James Blunt.
