Rain Phoenix makes solo music debut with ex-R.E.M. star Michael Stipe

Actress Rain Phoenix has made her debut as a solo singer with a little help from her late brother and former R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe.
Time Is the Killer features Stipe’s distinctive vocals, while the release also comes with a pair of lost songs, Where I’d Gone and Scales & Fishnails, recorded by tragic River Phoenix and his group Aleka’s Attic before his death in 1993.
Stipe also appears in the video for the track, which dropped on Wednesday (13Feb19), and Rain reveals it took all her courage to ask the Losing My Religion singer to listen to the track and duet with her.
“It was so close to home for me, it was difficult, but I got up the courage and asked,” she tells Rolling Stone. “Stipe asked to hear the song. He loved it. He said yes. I am still in shock. His voice is magic.”
The single is released on St. Valentine’s Day (14Feb19).
