Biography

Ranjit Chowdhry was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. In his early acting career, Chowdhry appeared in such films as "Sam & Me" (1991), "Lonely in America" (1991) and the drama "Mississippi Masala" (1992) with Denzel Washington. He also appeared in "The Night We Never Met" (1993) with Matthew Broderick, the Nicolas Cage dramatic comedy "It Could Happen to You" (1994) and "Camilla" (1994) with Jessica Tandy. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the nineties, appearing in the Theresa Randle comedic drama "Girl 6" (1996), the dramatic adaptation "I'm Not Rappaport" (1996) with Walter Matthau and the Indira Varma dramatic adaptation "Kama Sutra" (1997). He also appeared in the drama "Fire" (1997) with Shabana Azmi. Recently, he tackled roles in "Coming Soon" (2000), "Bollywood/Hollywood" (2002) with Rahul Khanna and "Last Holiday" (2006). He also appeared in the Anupam Kher drama "Spice of Life" (2006) and the Anupam Kher foreign "Hope and a Little Sugar" (2008). Most recently, Chowdhry acted on "Girls" (HBO, 2011-).
