Biography

With many years under his belt, Ray Taylor emerged as a top directing talent over the course of his career. Taylor started off his career directing independent films like "Fighting With Buffalo Bill" (1926) with Wallace MacDonald, "The Vanishing Rider" (1928) and the adventure "Tarzan, the Mighty" (1928) with Frank Merrill. He also appeared in "The One Way Trail" (1931), "The Jungle Mystery" (1932) and "Gordon of Ghost City" (1933). He continued to work in film in the thirties, directing motion pictures like "Dick Tracy" (1937), "Drums of Destiny" (1937) and the Buck Jones western "Sudden Bill Dorn" (1937). He also appeared in the western "Tex Rides With the Boy Scouts" (1937) with Tex Ritter. Toward the end of his career, Taylor directed "Mystery of the River Boat" (1944), "Raiders of Ghost City" (1944) and "Jungle Queen" (1945). He also appeared in "Secret Agent X-9" (1945) and "Adventures of the Flying Cadets." Taylor also directed "The Adventures of Smilin' Jack." Taylor was nominated for an Outstanding Writing In a Comedy-Variety or Music Series Primetime Emmy Award for "Cher" in 1975.
