Biography

For years, intrepid stuntman Ric Roman Waugh has put life and limb on the line for your entertainment. As a beefy muscleman, Waugh has doubled the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, among others. The '80s explosion of action blockbusters kept him busy throughout his early career, collaborating with genre heavyweights like John Carpenter and Richard Donner. Paul Verhoeven's adaptation of Philip K. Dick's Martian opus "Total Recall" ranks among Waugh's most impressive stunt work, rife with complicated fight choreography and oozing with special effects. In 1991, Waugh teamed with Steven Spielberg for his swashbuckling blockbuster "Hook", and joined disaster maestro Roland Emmerich for the reanimated actioner "Universal Soldier" the following year. Waugh stepped in for Schwarzenegger once more in 1993's explosive buddy picture, "Last Action Hero", and his work is also featured in '90s favorites "True Romance", "The Crow", and "The Last of the Mohicans". At 33-years-old, he quit the stunt game, making Jet Li's martial arts epic "The One" his swan song. Waugh wrote and directed the 2001 thriller "In the Shadows", recruiting Hollywood A-listers Matthew Modine and James Caan. In 2008, he released his second directorial effort, "Felon", a moralistic prison drama starring Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer.
