Biography

Richard Powers worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Powers began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "Lights of Old Santa Fe" (1944), "The Navy Way" (1944) and "Up in Arms" (1944) with Danny Kaye. He also appeared in "San Quentin" (1946). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in the drama "Crossfire" (1947) with Robert Young, "Dick Tracy's Dilemma" (1947) and the Merle Oberon spy thriller "Berlin Express" (1948). He also appeared in the Robert Mitchum western "Blood on the Moon" (1948). During the latter half of his career, he continued to act in the crime picture "Race Street" (1948) with George Raft, the historical feature "Return of the Bad Men" (1948) with Randolph Scott and "Desperadoes of the West" (1950). He also appeared in the Peter Graves adaptation "Red Planet Mars" (1952). Powers last provided music for "Hawks" (1989) with Timothy Dalton.
