Ronaldo plays 1,000th game in empty stadium

Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo played his 1,000th game in an empty stadium on Sunday (March 8, 2020) after Italian officials shut down public gatherings to stop the spread of coronavirus.

According to reports a quarter of the population is on lockdown – and that meant Ronaldo’s Juventus team took on Inter Milan behind closed doors at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. But Cristiano was still celebrating after the 2-0 victory, taking to Instagram to mark the milestone.

“So proud to reach 1000 official games in my career with a very important victory that put us on the top of the (league) table again!” he wrote.
