Well, it looks like Russell Brand won’t be adding jailbird to his outstanding resume. If you remember, back in March, the 37-year-old actor/comedian was arrested for destroying a paparazzo’s iPhone while he was down in New Orleans, La. working on a new film. And, just about four months later, Brand’s attorney Robert Glass has plead “not guilty” on behalf of the star in front of the New Orleans Municipal Court (on Thursday morning).
But, Brand didn’t get off free and clear. His attorney instead reached a deal with the District Attorney. The Deputy Clerk of the Municipal Court, Nancy Colomb, tells Hollywood.com that Brand has to pay “a fee of $500,” and he has been “ordered to complete 20 hours of community service.”
Deputy Clerk Colomb also tells us that a status hearing for Brand has been set for Aug. 31 at 8:30 AM CT, at which time his attorney must show proof that Brand has completed his community service.
Hollywood.com has also reached out to Brand’s rep for comment.
