Biography

Ruth Etting's musical scores have been featured in a range of Hollywood productions. Etting found her beginnings in film with roles in "Roman Scandals" (1933) and "Hips, Hips, Hooray!" (1934). Etting had a diverse career throughout the eighties and the 2010s, including "Shy People" (1987), "Rambling Rose" with Laura Dern (1991) and "Water for Elephants" (2011) starring Reese Witherspoon. Toward the end of her career, Etting provided music for the dramedy "Magic in the Moonlight" (2014) with Emma Stone. Etting's husband was Martin Snyder. Ruth Etting passed away in September 1978 at the age of 71.
