Academy Award winner Sammy Fain was recognized throughout Hollywood for his amazing work as a musician. Fain worked on a variety of projects during his early entertainment career, including "Dames" with Joan Blondell (1934), "Footlight Parade" (1933), "Goin' to Town" (1935), "Peter Pan" (1953) starring Robert "Bobby" Driscoll, "The Jazz Singer" with Danny Thomas (1953) and "Two Sisters From Boston" (1946) starring Kathryn Grayson. Fain was nominated for a Music (Song) Academy Award for "April Love", as well as for a Music (Song) Academy Award for "A Certain Smile" and a Music (Song) Academy Award for "Marjorie Morningstar." Fain won a Music (Song) Academy Award for "Calamity Jane" in 1953 as well as a Music (Song) Academy Award for "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing" in 1955. In the seventies, Fain devoted his time to various credits, such as "The Stepmother" (1972), "The Parallax View" with Warren Beatty (1974), "The Teacher" (1974) starring Angel Tompkins and "The Specialist" (1975). Fain had a number of different projects under his belt in the nineties, including "Radioland Murders" (1994) starring Brian Benben, "The Grass Harp" (1996), "Inventing the Abbotts" with Joaquin Phoenix (1997), "That Old Feeling" (1997) and "Hope Floats" (1998) starring Sandra Bullock. Fain last provided music for the Angelina Jolie box office smash family adventure "Maleficent" (2014). Sammy Fain passed away in December 1989 at the age of 87.
