Biography

Satomi Ishihara is a Japanese actress who has acted on various television series and films for less than a decade, but already built an impressive repertoire. One of her first acting roles was in the comedy drama "My Grandpa," playing a thirteen year old meeting her ex-convict grandfather for the first time in. She acted alongside two notable Japanese actors, Bunta Sugawara and Tadanobu Asano, and won five awards including Newcomer of the Year at the Japanese Academy Awards. Ishihara became a regular on lighthearted television series, such as the teen high school comedy "Waterboys 2" and "H2: Kimi to itahibi." She became a lead actor and starred as a teacher in the supernatural comedy "Puzzle" and a basketball star in the comedic feature film "Flying Rabbits." Her most unusual role was becoming a medical student in "Voice: Inochi naki mono no koe," the supernatural drama followed students on a mission listening to the voices of the dead and helping their mourning families. By 2010, Ishihara became a regular fixture on television and made celebrity endorsements for Sega and Pocky, a popular Japanese snack brand. She acted in the suspenseful lawyer on the lam television drama "Tobo Bengoshi," and was the star of "Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso" as a celebrity psychic who also conducted detective work. Ishihara also did voiceover work and worked on the supernatural war film "Legend of the Millennium Dragon" and the classic children's adventure series "Pokemon: Best Wishes: The Movie."
