Biography

With what some might say is a "classically handsome" look, Scott Weinger was on his way to becoming a TV heartthrob when he put his Hollywood career on semi-hold to attend Harvard University in the 1990s. But even attending Harvard did not keep him from working both in front of the cameras and in doing voices. He became the "youth correspondent" for ABC's "Good Morning, America" in 1994. But Weinger is best known for performing the voice of Aladdin in Disney's 1992 animated mega-hit film, and reprising the character in two direct-to-video sequels as well as the spin-off TV series.

.

"There was no social media or anything, but it was one of those things that made the cover of People magazine, that the voice of Aladdin is the new boyfriend on "Full House." It was one of those things that got hammered into people’s minds – so much so that it’s not unusual for me to be at the grocery store and somebody walks up to me and says, "I know you! You’re the voice of Aladdin!" It’s pretty rare to be recognized as a voice. It was so driven into people’s minds that even all these years later people are aware of that fun fact. Although, every day, people tweeted me, 'Never knew that Steve was Aladdin!' People are still finding out, which I always enjoy. It’s very weird. As an actor, you’re lucky if anything you do sticks around in the culture." - from my.xfinity.com, October 21, 2015
