Sorry ladies (and Stefon), Seth Meyers is officially off the market. Us Weekly confirms that he recently popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Alexi Ashe.
The 39-year-old Saturday Night Live writer and star met Ashe, a lawyer, at a wedding a few years back. They’ve been together ever since. Another source told Us Weekly that the engagement wasn’t a surprise.
“He’s very excited for the next phase of his life,” the source revealed. “He’s known that she’s The One for awhile, but it was all about timing.”
The timing seems to be right now that Meyers is leaving SNL to take over Late Night from Jimmy Fallon, who is replacing Jay Leno on The Tonight Show in 2014. The late night shuffle will make life a little easier for Meyers.
“With Late Night, his schedule will be slowly easing up,” the source said. “He wanted to do it after SNL wrapped [because] he didn’t want to be an absentee fiance. Her family loves him.”
Now that’s how you treat a lady right. Nice job, Seth.
